MODULE SUMMARY

Module 8 summary

The capstone is the fictional Gosife District Ward Health Programme.

Inspect the file before you calculate. Do not add unlike units.

Recommendations should be actions a manager could actually try.

The figures are invented. Do not paste a real patient record into the workbook.

The board writes the point she is saying. It changes as the lesson moves on. Keep the sound on.

READ COMPLETE NOTES

Block 1. Case study and data access

You are the Health Data Analyst and M&E Support Officer for the Gosife District Ward Health Programme in Gosife District and Gosife Ward. Gosife Comprehensive Healthcare Centre is the anchor facility. Four clinics report to the programme: Central Clinic, Riverside Clinic, Hilltop Clinic and Valley Clinic.

Management has received first-quarter reports from the four clinics. Attendance does not look the same from clinic to clinic. Some routine reports are incomplete. The outreach counts do not match the facility counts. Your job is to clean and evaluate the routine data, compare the sources without forcing them into one total, build an executive dashboard, review the quarterly targets, and write an evidence-informed policy brief.

Download both files before you start. The workbook has four sheets: Facility Attendance Raw, Completeness Tracker, Multi-Source Triangulation, and LogFrame M&E Performance. The Word file is a blank brief. The worked report is not on this page.

Block 2. Five deliverables

1. Data cleaning and indicator maths

In Excel, calculate the three-month attendance total for each clinic and the monthly district totals. Calculate the percentage change from January to February, and from February to March. Calculate reporting completeness for each clinic and for the district. Name the clinics that did not submit every expected report. Do not replace a blank with a guess.

2. Triangulation

The workbook holds three streams: routine facility visits (1,250), NGO outreach contacts (250), and a ward rapid survey (620 unique children). Write one paragraph on why these three figures must not be added to get a total number of beneficiaries. Cover the unit of each figure, double-counting, catchment crossing, and the difference between a visit and a unique client.

3. Executive dashboard

Build this in Power BI or Excel. Three cards: total recorded visits (1,250), reporting facilities (4), overall completeness (75%). One line chart of monthly recorded visits. One bar chart comparing clinic volume with submission completeness. Add a footer with the reporting period and the limits of the data. Check every card against your own calculation before you treat it as final.

4. Logframe achievement

Calculate target achievement for the quarter. Health education sessions: target 24, actual 18. Health workers trained: target 20, actual 16. Mobile outreach visits: target 16, actual 12. Interpret a shortfall as an operational question, such as supplies, staffing, or the schedule. Do not treat it as proof that staff failed.

5. One-page executive brief

Title the brief Gosife District Health Performance Review. Use six parts: purpose, key findings, triangulation, data limitations and quality gaps, recommendations with Valley Clinic and Riverside Clinic named for follow-up, and a follow-up monitoring plan. One page. Findings and recommendations stay separate.

The suggested completion mark for this exercise is 70 out of 100. Use it to check your own work. HIMForward does not collect or mark an uploaded file. This project is optional practice. It is not required for the course certificate.

Certificate pathway

The Certificate of Completion — Health Data Analytics & M&E for Healthcare Professionals is issued when modules 1 to 7 are complete. It is not issued for this optional project, and it is not a mark of reviewed practical work. The certificate names the learner, the course, the date, and a unique identification number.

END OF THE COURSE

Get your certificate

This is where Health Data Analytics & M&E finishes. The certificate uses the name from registration. You do not type a name. It uses the same HIMForward certificate design.

  1. 1. Pass the 10-question quiz at 80%. A chosen answer stays locked.
  2. 2. Write the course review.
  3. 3. Generate the certificate.
